Shawn Hicks is a loyal and career minded marine who loves to tinker. His early love for machines and engines made him a great candidate for the Starfleet academy yet his passion was for the Starfleet Marine Corps. Hicks is also described by his peers as always ready for a challenge with a smile and a joke which motivates his fellow marines into overcoming and obstacle.

Strength: strong leadership skills and a natural aptitude for engineering. He is the mechanic you want to have when you need one.
Weakness: insubordination on occasion which has cost him a strip or two.

Hopes to pin on Warrant Officer soon and work with Starfleet’s Research and Development team.

Hicks loves to tinker and customize when he gets the chance. His likes to spend his off time researching technology reports. In the holodeck he is often working on some sort of vehicle from vintage earth or testing out some new design for submission to the Research and Development team in Starfleet. As some would say “if it doesn’t have flesh and blood Hicks with try to take it apart and make it better.” Shawn has other hobbies but they pale in comparison to his love for engineering.

Shawn was born on earth his father was half Vulcan which left him with some latent telepathic abilities.  Both of his parents were chief engineers assigned to the shipyards.  After his father retired from Starfleet he began to teach at the academy. When it was time for Shawn to take his entrance exams he overslept because he was reassembling a six wheeled ATV from scratch and stayed up all night finishing it. 

He joined the Starfleet marine corps shortly thereafter. While at his first duty station he was assigned to the maintenance bays his reputation for tinkering spread from there.

After he made Sergeant his reputation had earned him a transfer to the Starfighters again as a maintenance crew chief for the fighters. It was during this post that he first met Savan Channing. 

While Hicks was a Staff Sergeant on a support detachment his unit was attacked by the Borg. Hicks and the survivors were assimilated. As a result Hicks lost his eyes and part of his right leg and his left forearm. He was later rescued by a Special operations unit.

 After months in medical treatment Hicks was returned to active duty.  His eyes were replaced with the latest in optic implants. Because Hicks was ever the tinker and was fascinated with technology with the help of an R&D team he was able to reengineer some of the old Borg implants that were used for his leg and forearm.  As a result his skill as an all around mechanic doubled.

After rehabilitation was over Hicks was transferred to Special operations under Savan Channing where Hicks’ new abilities could best be used.
