Danny was born in Dallas, Texas, Earth. He grew up watching his parents, who were both physicians, treating the ill. His love for medicine came from there. His father didn't approve of Starfleet for unknown reasons and when Danny joined the academy, his father refused to speak to him. Several years later he found out why his father was so hostile. Danny's grandparents had been killed when his father was only five years old. They were both starfleet officers onboard the same ship when it was destroyed in a freak encounter with a Romulan D'deridex class warbird.

Before joining the Academy, Daniel surgically removed his Trill spots for unknown reasons.

Knowing he was going against his father's wishes hurt Danny more than he would admit, but at the academy he buried himself in his studies. Soon after, he started to get a reputation as one hell of a doctor. Finding many cadets injured one afternoon after an engineering experiment had gone wrong, he cared for them each at a time, making sure they all survived.

Graduating first in his class, and majoring in Advanced Medicine, he was first assigned to the USS Waterloo as an Ensign. His work was always imaginative and intuitive. No matter what the situation, it seemed that he could cope with the pressure. He spent four years as the Assistant Medical Officer, being promoted to Lieutenant JG along the way.

It was during his time on the Waterloo that he secretly joined with the symbiont, Noral. Believing that the joining would hurt his Starfleet career, he decided not to reveal his joining to anyone. To this end, he managed to alter his Starfleet medical profile to show that he was human.

Eventually he was assigned to the USS Mandela. It was onboard the Mandela that Danny experienced some of the happiest days of his life. He was soon was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and was made Chief Medical Officer. He started dating the Chief Engineer, Chloe Anderson. The two were very happy for three years. Unfortunately, Danny was offered the XO position onboard the USS Echo and Chloe was offered the same position onboard the Jackson. Coming to the hard decision together, the two decided to put their careers first and broke up. It would soon become the biggest regret of his life. A year after taking their new posts, the Jackson was attacked by Dominion forces and destroyed. Danny blamed Chloe's death on himself. He believed if he had convinced Chloe to come with him onto the Echo she would still be alive.

After several adventures as the Executive Officer onboard the Echo, Danny was offered his first command; the USS Kennedy-A. It was what he had been dreaming about since being in the Academy.

Tragically, Danny died after being hit by an explosion onboard the derelict, USS Manchester. Chief Medical Officer Olivia Ashur was able to save the Noral symbiont, but not before realising the Captain was infact a Trill.
